James has been a practicing lawyer for over a decade. Prior to joining JDKG in 2024 to become a civil litigator, James worked in immigration defense and in criminal defense. James secured legal permanent residency for multiple immigration clients, and successfully defended clients facing criminal charges.

James Magown is a native Houstonian and a graduate of Bellaire High School, where he was captain of the tennis team. James spent a portion of his childhood in Venezuela and speaks both Spanish and Portuguese.

James enjoys playing basketball, singing, playing guitar, chess, and travel photography.
